Goya.....

Note...the  "Majas" were actually painted somewhere before 1800. More pillows.

We have Goya's Ghost in the Netflix queue. Too bad "The Naked Maja" with Ava Gardner isn't on Netflix. Bad but fun to watch.

  1. Brilliant and once again I'm chuckling, but will you dare to recreate the disasters!

    1. Thank you!

The dismemberment images and such are beyond what I would do for fun. Most collectors like happy clappy war scenes w/o out blood.

  2. I love that "Maja" has her own little plastic bed and furniture. Thanks for shedding light on this piece of art history.
    PS
Anything w Ava Gardner in it is worth watching.

    1. The "Maja" and furniture is all Repro MARX. Never had any of this stuff 50 years ago when it was 1st made. The nude was something Louis Marx handed out to friends so the story goes.

    1. Brian I can't claim that I did much to the Spanish. They are Mokarex coffee premium figures of French Revolutionaries that I tweaked a little plus some Classic Toy Soldiers Mexican peasants. The "Goya" figure is a Historex civilian. This figure has also "starred" as Jane Austin characters and Pierre from War and Peace in past blog entries.

I really like authenticity but in my plastic toy soldier "worlds" some figures stand in for various characters.

Thanks for your kind comments and please return.

  4. Scott, great performance! Charming :) It could be a part of encyclopedia of world art in miniatures.
