ReplyDeleteThe saddest female "doomed" characters has to be Nancy from Oliver twist....she really had little choice over her circumstances.

Poor Nancy. She might be one of the more realistic characters.
DeleteI hope it didn't look like we were making fun of fates of these characters. My daughter reads a site called TV Tropes which is a "wikipedia" of the universal themes in all kinds of media. She thought up the sweet/nasty doomed trope.
