Painted Expeditionary Force Zouaves.

I have a unit of the 5th New York in the works but I finished a small group of figures representing the  Salem Light Infantry militia company known as the Salem Zouaves during the American Civil War. These figures were made from the extra figures from three boxes using the kepi heads included with the Expeditionary Force kits.

A random inspiration from my daughter Rachel has these soldiers dealing with the "supernatural" forces in old New England. She has been watching the TV series Salem and reporting on the anachronisms.

No much at the moment except.....

..my daughter Rachel paid a visit to my workshop.

I did finish a few odd figures I pickup at a discount table at the local miniatures show.

I think it's supposed to be this guy..... Isambard Kingdom Brunel

A Lincoln figure wearing his hat

A British officer in "Mess Dress"

and an old figure from one of the Strombecker Kits from the 1960s that I painted as a Prussian from 1870.

Think these kits were only $1.00 at the time.

More Expeditionary Force Zouaves.

Two more boxes give me enough to make a 16 man unit of fez and turban wearing Zouaves plus 2 color bearers and s officers.

I have enough figures to make a small unit of The Salem Light Infantry also known as The Salem Zouaves. These figures may star in future story.

Above is Don Troiani's version of the uniform and below is a post war photo of a veteran of the Salem Zouaves.
