Those are plastic MOKAREX coffee premium figures of French kings and queens that I picked up at a TS show. Painting them gray is as far as I ever got with them.
If I was doing a specific period absolutely authentically, I'd remodel and paint the figure as correctly as possible to period paintings. But in this toy world of mine this great little figure works for numerous periods. I like this figure because it's a more positive female character than the perturbed Victorian lady. The serving woman is either the "straight man" in any story or the "Groucho" character that has the great comebacks.
Nice eternal figure...and story!
ReplyDeletePhil.
A useful time travelling lass. Could you tell me who the 18th century gentry are by Scott?

DeleteThanks, I have just picked a few up on ebay at a reasonable price.
Delete'A woman for all seasons ' indeed !
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't get more versatile than that; mind you I worry what that says about how we look at women!
