DeleteInteresting that the loser and his girl are pretty (he doesn't have a weapon) and the victor and his girl look like fat pigs (though the German has a rifle). Curious.

DeleteGerman women as beefy and unpleasant. There's a German set of illustrations from the Franco-Prussian War showing French women as hideous crones. Maybe I'll post them.
