Conversions of Armies In Plastic Confederates into Mexican Regulars in undress field uniforms. I used All The Kings Men Havelock kepis on some figures and kept the hats from the original Confederates on others. The officer is an AIP Iron Brigade officer with another type of ATKM head.
Republican troops were illustrated in a vast number of variations and the Confederate kit works for a simple version of these troops. Undress uniforms were supposed to be white with blue trim. I didn't have any iconic sombrero heads or hats. Some period illustrations show a flatter low crown hat worn at the time.

Thank you for sharing these! Very inspiring. Brilliant use of The AIP Confederate bodies, especially the ones with the blanket rolls which you cleverly painted in bright, Mexican colors! And the ATKM Havelock heads fit perfectly.
ReplyDeleteNice work. You can also use ACW Feds virtually unchanged as the US supplied them with surplus uniforms.
ReplyDeleteNicely done. Very convincing as Mexicans.
