A quick look at Soldaderas.

Soldadera is the name for  Mexican women who followed the armies acting as cook, laundresses, and companions to the troops.

The number of period photos from the 1910-1920 REVOLUTION showing armed women either show that women posed for the camera with borrowed weapons or actually expected to fight. In  war game armies, or dioramas of Mexican troops, the Soldadera figure would not be out of place. I read this book about subject......Soldaderas in the Mexican Military: Myth and History by Elizabeth Salas. I've seen it on Amazon.com.
