The TV Superman George Reeves just had to stand there. Criminals in hats and suits usually resorted to the gun throw. I think there was an episode where George Reeves "ducked" from a thrown object.
Spiderman did get the warning about "with great power comes great responsibility"
Superman of course is a Democrat. His real Kryptonian name Kal-el is vaguely Jewish. He's an immigrant who works for the Liberal Media and he puts crooks in jail rather than killing them.
