Repaired French Imperial Guard
Another set of damaged figures repaired and restored. I got these men at a show for $10.00 because of the damage.
I replaced damaged Chassepots with pewter percussion cap rifle I already have and back dated the figures to the 1860s.
Mounted for painting and coated with artists Gesso.
I consulted about a dozen artist conceptions and photos of The Imperial Guard from the late 1850s to 1870 and came up with a color scheme that closely matched the casting. The coats are a bit short for the Guard. The officer figure is a mystery because his coat is short and he's out of step with the enlisted men

Restored hollowcast Mexicans
I found these broken figures a year ago in the junk boxes at a local toy soldier show. They are finally finished. They were supposed to be Alamo era figures but have details that are off from what is known of the uniforms. Since they are "toys" I painted them with a simple color scheme with less regard to authenticity.

Restored figures
These are some of the figures I picked up at a recent toy soldier show.
Below are two W. Britains Civil War color bearers. I repainted them in a toy style. You may notice that they look more like the 1880s. I'm sure that W. Britain cast figures from a basic figure and added different heads.
These are Strombecker Germans painted as Franco Prussian War soldiers. The original Strombecker kit was WW One. Several figures were missing their rifles which I replaced with spare parts and green putty.
This odd little Church building is from a MARX village set that was never released made up of semi flat buildings. I got this for 50 cents at the same show. It works for forced perspective photos.
I also repainted some old W. Britains farm figures.
Pretty good figures for future stories.
