 I've added this lady's blog . She has an excellent impression as a Confederate Vivandiere which appears to be based on a number of period sources. The best element is that she is doing a Vivandiere impression as a female and not as a "tomboy." There are a number of sightings of Confederate Vivandieres but as with the Union Army Vivandieres were noted as unusual rather than common.

RAIN and skirts....

I've never seen it..you have never seen it but it appears to have been a running joke for 100 years. Except for the hoop skirt cartoon from England in 1857, it appears to be a French subject for cartoons.

Don't Come In!!!

If a woman tells you "don't come in" Don't! Sometimes it's for your own good. In the early 1900s it must have been considered "OK" to try to come in.

The last two may have been by the same artist.

It looks like most of the men will get in the door.

Easter in LEGO LAND

I sold all my LEGOs on Ebay last summer so I won't be recreating the Civil War etc with them. Please go see the efforts on The Brick Testament. I don't know if anyone out there who looks in here is offended by the recreation of Bible stories in Danish plastic bricks. The medium of LEGOs is fun and colorful and that can't be bad.

AIP's World War One Germans

Save a couple of problem poses from the 1917-1918 German set. The wounded figure is o.k. but can only be used a few times in any set up. I don't know what the Armies In Plastic sculptor was thinking with the stiff advancing pose. I try to keep my figures unpainted so my conversions are simple. They show up a little too much in photo close ups.If you paint them, conversions can be more adventurous.
